About us
Mission and Vision
Chess for Unity, founded by FM Vincent Tsay and FM Arthur Xu in June 2020, is a platform for young chess lovers to meet and interact outside of chess tournaments. It enables them to:
Share their passion and love for chess
Inspire and support one another
Raise awareness of chess in their greater and local communities
Support under-resourced youth in chess
Our Story
We are a group of high school and middle school students who love chess. Over the years, our passion has been awarded titles and championships at domestic and international chess tournaments. Now, we have established this platform to foster a community of chess lovers outside of tournament interactions. Through this platform, we will share our experiences, knowledge, and skills to guide younger chess players. We believe this platform will serve as a space for learning, friendship, inspiration, and collaboration. We hope this platform will be managed, sustained, and cherished by generations of school-aged chess lovers. Chess for Unity is committed to nurturing and cultivating a community of school-aged chess lovers!
Chess4unity is ready to help you improve your chess level!
Why do we like playing chess?
Can you imagine something sharpens one’s mind, develops one’s ingenuity, and improves one’s wit all while having an enjoyable time? Well, if you can’t, then what had hitherto been an impossibility for you is now possible with the brilliant game known as chess.–IM Jason Wang
I think of chess as an art, science, and sport. It rewards concision and demands mental acuity, imagination, and courage. I particularly love team chess where my teammates and I collectively battle our opponents.”–NM Derek Jin
Chess is a game where you strategically challenge your opponents in a battle of coordination and calculation. Not only does it sharpen your decision making ability, it also boosts your confidence and helps you understand how to come back from failure.–FM Arthur Xu
