“3rd Saturday” FREE Online Tournament
Monthly on 3rd Saturday | 7 pm Eastern Time
3 SECTIONS: Open, U1200, U600
OPEN – 4 rounds, Rapid G15+2; U1200 – 5 rounds, Rapid G10+5; U600 – 5 rounds, Rapid G10+5
Tournament dates in 2024: 1/20, 2/17, 3/16, 4/20, 5/18, 6/15 (canceled), 7/20, 8/17, 9/21, 10/19, 11/16, 12/21
*Note: Please send an email to us and re-register for the tournament if you did not receive an email from Chess for Unity after 4 pm ET on the the tournament day. That’s because the email you provided was not correct. Please make sure the email address is accurate when you re-register for the tournament.
Tournament Rules:
– ONLY registered players are eligible for prize.
– Once you register, there is no need to register any future 3rd Saturday FREE online tournaments.
– All or some of our board members will play in the OPEN section.
– Registration deadline: Two hours prior to the start of the tournament.
– Format: Swiss UNRATED tournament U600&U1200|5 rounds, G10+5 ; Open|4 rounds, G15+2
– The peak USCF rating including regular, quick, online regular, and online quick is used to assign sections ( playing up is only permitted by the organizer, and players who played up without permission or played down are NOT eligible for any prizes).
— Prize: 1st place in each section will have a free, up to 30 minutes game review lesson with one of Chess for Unity members. The 1st place player will be contacted to choose a date and time that works for both. (The prize system–1st place-$20, 2nd place-$15, 3rd place-$10 in each section, expired by July 31st, 2024).
–Players MUST join the Zoom meeting (with camera ON) in order to be eligible for a prize. The Zoom meeting link will be sent to all registered players via email on the day before the tournament.

Join the C4U-3rd Saturday Club
(You will need to submit your request to join the Club at least 15 minutes prior to the start of the tournament and then join the tournament in the Chess.com Live Chess system before the start time)
Late join’s will be permitted but no byes are allowed and if you disconnect from the event, Chess.com may remove you and it may not be possible for you to rejoin the event
C4U-Fair Play Policies:
If a player violates the chess.com fair play policy, he/she will be disqualified from any prizes and his/her chess.com account will be closed. In addition, his/her opponents will each receive half-point added to their final scores.
If any player contests in a wrong section (refer to the “Peak USCF rating” in “Tournament Rules” as details above), the ranking and prize will be forfeited. Under this circumstance, the rankings and prizes will be substituted in order.
